YAZAD JABBAR
YAZAD JABBAR
Core area of Specialization:
My
core area of specialization in Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering
revolves around reservoir dynamics, sediment transport, capacity loss
prediction, and spatial analysis of sediment yield. It reflects my passion for
advancing the frontiers of the field and my dedication to finding sustainable
solutions for the future challenges in water resources engineering,
particularly in the context of Indian reservoirs.
As
an aspiring Assistant Professor in Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering,
my core area of specialization encompasses various crucial aspects of the
field, all with the goal of advancing sustainable water resource management and
tackling water-related challenges in civil engineering.
One
of the primary areas of my expertise lies in reservoir dynamics, where I focus
on understanding sediment dynamics and their impact on reservoir storage
capacity. By studying sediment deposition in reservoirs, I gain insights into
the long-term implications for water storage, enabling me to develop innovative
solutions to address capacity loss prediction. This knowledge is essential for
effective water resource planning and management.
Moreover,
I have a keen interest in establishing relationships between hydrometric and
hydrographic observations. These relationships provide valuable tools for reservoir
operators to assess and anticipate changes in storage capacity over time. By
employing advanced techniques and methodologies, I also focus on characterizing
sediment properties in submerged reservoir environments. This approach allows
me to develop effective strategies to address sediment-related challenges in a
comprehensive manner.
Furthermore,
my expertise in geospatial techniques plays a crucial role in my
specialization. These techniques aid me in understanding and managing sediment
yield at a regional scale, whether it be at a national or basin level. This
knowledge contributes to better water resource planning and decision-making on
a larger scale.
My
primary area of specialization as an academic professional extends beyond
expanding reservoir sedimentation knowledge. It also aims to provide valuable
insights to future engineers in order for them to tackle real-world water
resource issues. Through my teaching and research, I hope to provide students
with the knowledge and skills they will need to address the pressing challenges
that our nation will face in the field of water resources.
Research Interest:
My
research interest is in Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering, with a
focus on reservoir dynamics, sediment transport, capacity loss prediction, and
spatial analysis of sediment yield using remote sensing data. I am committed to
advancing sustainable water resource management and addressing water-related
challenges in civil engineering. I am particularly interested in utilizing
Indian satellites' remotely sensed data to understand our water resources,
especially in the domain of my specialization. I aim to contribute to open
water surface mapping, monitoring, and measurement, an area that has been
relatively unexplored by Indian researchers. Additionally, I seek to develop
solutions for the sedimentation problems faced by aging Indian reservoirs, ensuring
the sustainable management of these vital water resources in India.
